Static Inertia....

Ashen clouds weighed heavily on the horizon while the sun dipped below the silhouettes of mountains surrounding the pool of deep lake water. The last hint of sun teased the tips of the rolling waves as sprinkles of rain sank gently to the depths below. A hint of mossy sand with the tang of pine trees filled my lungs as I stood on the shoreline.

Crackles of lightening skimmed the skies as thunder thumped like the rhythmic lull of the drums around me. Time and space ceased as the oppressing humid air swirled into my mind without producing motion. Weightless energy seeped out with each passing rain drop that splashed onto my checks.

In a mere moment children's demanding voices were slipping from my mind as the power of nature erased all the mundane responsibilities that emblazed my soul. Thoughts raced through my brain as I wanted to bolt from all the nagging obligations that were pressing down on my chest like a heavy anchor. White jagged razor sharp spears teased the water and goose bumps covered my skin as the wind whipped covering me with a rejuvenating energy.

As quickly as the storm had unleashed its commanding voice of reason it was gone now and all that remained were puddles of warm rain water in the ridges of sand as a lone water skipper danced to and fro. In the distance the trill of blue jays began to cut through the dead still in the air as their stories chipped away at the static inertia pressing on my frenzied mind.
